WikiLeaks: Sarah Palin’s private email account screenshots

The hacker group calling itself Anonymous, who exposed the “Church” of Scientology’s dark side last winter have hacked Governor Sarah Palin’s personal email account and released screen grabs on WikiLeaks. Some of the screen grabs are still in question, but at least one has been confirmed by Wired Magazine to be genuine. When her staffers bragged about avoiding a subpoena, they probably didn’t anticipate hackers. That’s the problem with secrecy. We cannot have another administration as secretive as the last. We need absolute government transparency — Google Government, if you will — to give every citizen access to anything their government is doing.

Palin has since deleted the Yahoo! email accounts. They include drafts to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, as well as some peculiar references to “DPS” — Alaska Department of Public Safety — which oversees the State Troopers. If this was her attempt to circumvent the law while abusing power, then the deletion of the addresses may also be considered destroying evidence. It could easily end up nothing if the lawyer the McCain campaign sent has his way, but her incredibly shady actions lend this credence.
